Developing tomorrow’s leaders today

Personal development at Coventry University spans all aspects of our work and is actively encouraged across our student and staff community. Developing our internal talent pool has become one of the University’s strengths. An innovative approach to this has been the development of an MBA Leadership course for professional services staff.

People Case Study Thumb

Ian Anderson | MBA Leadership Programme

The course is designed to give staff thinking space outside of their day-to-day roles, develop them personally and professionally and become stronger leaders in their respective areas. This innovative postgraduate course has been specifically designed to challenge the aspirations of the University’s professional services staff.

The course is delivered through a combination of blended learning and use of the ‘flipped-classroom’. Learning around leadership is further enhanced by membership of the Global Leaders Programme and the opportunity for staff mobility with one of the University’s global collaborative partners.

Ian Anderson is part way through the MBA: ‘I’d always wanted to study an MBA and was delighted when the University offered this opportunity. It’s a great way to recognise the part that professional services staff play in the success of the organisation. I’ve enjoyed being taken out of my comfort zone and being challenged. The course makes me look at things differently and I’m networking with colleagues from all corners of the University Group. The University has invested hugely in the potential of its staff and the rewards are paying off.’
